Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Walltide ("we", "us") collects when you use the Walltide macOS app and walltide.app, why we collect it, and your rights. We keep data collection to what we need to run the service.
1. Who is responsible
Walltide is the data controller for the data described here. Contact: walltide.app@gmail.com. Payments are handled by Paddle.com, which acts as Merchant of Record and is the controller for the payment data it collects; see the Paddle Privacy Policy.
2. What we collect
- Account data: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see them in plain text.
- Subscription data: your plan, subscription status, renewal date and Paddle customer and subscription IDs. We don't receive or store your full card details.
- Device data: a random device identifier and the device name you see in Settings → Account (for example "MacBook Pro"), used to enforce your plan's device limit and let you sign devices out.
- Usage data: basic technical logs (such as IP address, request times and errors) when the app or website talks to our servers, and, on the website, analytics through Google Analytics about pages visited.
- Support messages: anything you send us by email.
Your custom wallpapers stay on your Mac. We don't collect your files, screen contents or browsing activity from the app.
3. Why we use it (and legal basis)
- To provide your account, deliver Pro and manage your devices (performance of a contract).
- To process subscriptions and respond to billing questions with Paddle (performance of a contract, legal obligations).
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems (legitimate interests).
- To understand how the website is used and improve it (legitimate interests, or consent where required).
- To send essential emails such as account activation and receipts (performance of a contract).
4. Who we share it with
We use trusted providers that process data on our behalf:
- Paddle.com: checkout, payments, tax and invoicing (Merchant of Record).
- Google (Firebase and Google Cloud): authentication, database and backend hosting (EU region).
- Cloudflare: content delivery and storage for wallpapers and network security.
- Hostinger: website hosting.
- Resend: sending transactional emails.
- Google Analytics: website analytics.
- Discord: only if you choose to connect your Discord account.
We don't sell your personal data. We may disclose data if the law requires it. Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area under appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
5. How long we keep it
We keep account and subscription data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except where we must keep records longer for legal, tax or accounting reasons. Server logs are kept for a limited time for security.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR), you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent. Email walltide.app@gmail.com and we'll respond within one month. You can also complain to your local data protection authority; in Greece that's the Hellenic Data Protection Authority.
7. Cookies
The website uses cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in and, through Google Analytics, to measure visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and reputable infrastructure providers to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect it and will notify you where the law requires if a breach affects you.
9. Children
Walltide isn't intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or by email.
